Burnett Foundation Aotearoa (previously New Zealand AIDS Foundation) has been at the forefront of HIV prevention in Aotearoa for nearly 40 years.

Senior Services and Outreach Coordinator, Permanent Full-time (37.5 hours per week) - Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Services and Outreach Team contributes to Burnett Foundation Aotearoa’s work in the areas of developing individual skills, building the strength of communities, and enhancing the capacity of the health workforce to meet the needs of those we serve.

The team achieves this through the provision of HIV and STI testing and support, counselling services, peer-led group programmes and education. We deliver programmes and services from the Burnett Centre and our Āwhina (Wellington) and Te Toka (Christchurch)offices. We also partner with likeminded organisations to maximise the impact of our work.

The Senior Services and Outreach Coordinator will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of key projects and programmes within the Services and Outreach team.
  • Provide peer HIV & STI testing services, remote support to clients self-testing for HIV and peer advice / information in response to client queries.
  • Deliver key education messages to communities, stakeholders and healthcare workers in a range of settings

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • A tertiary qualification or technical training in at least one of: Health Promotion, Project Management, Population/Public Health, Community Work, Community Development or Allied Health. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a tertiary qualification.
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of health service or health promotion projects
  • Experience working with, understanding of, or commitment to, gay and bisexual men, men who have sex with men, rainbow communities and Takatāpui.
  • Experience in customer service with a strong client-centred approach
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with the diverse groups impacted by HIV in Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Ability to consistently adhere to the principles of confidentiality and ethical practice within a health setting.
  • High level of attention to detail regarding entering client data or creating database records
  • Experience holding key relationships with stakeholders to support programmes and activities
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively, manage changing and conflicting demands and expectations.
  • Professional approach to sexuality and sexual issues.

 

While not essential, it would be beneficial to also be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of HIV, sexual health issues and specific health issues facing rainbow and takatāpui communities in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Lived experience in one or more of Burnett Foundation Aotearoa current or emerging priority populations (men who have sex with men, rainbow communities, people living with HIV, Māori, people from high HIV prevalence countries).

Executive Assistant, Permanent Part-time (22.5 hours per week) - Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland

This is a rare opportunity to bring together your expertise as an Executive Assistant and your lived experience and passion for people to a leading, well-respected community organisation that has a strong focus on the sexual health needs of rainbow and takatāpui communities. Opportunities like this don’t come around often.

In this role you will report to the Chief Executive and work behind the scenes to make it all happen.

The Executive Assistant will:

  • Provide high level confidential, timely and accurate executive level support to optimise the Chief Executive’s productivity and effectiveness
  • Facilitate the coordination and integration of information, planning and reporting to enable the effective functioning of the Chief Executive and leadership team
  • Ensure the interests of the Chief Executive and organisation are always represented in a professional manner
  • Take ownership of key tasks and projects, bringing a proactive approach, and seeing these through from initiation to completion.

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • At least five years' experience supporting a Chief Executive, Executive Team member or Senior Director
  • First class communication skills, with an ability to write communications for a range of audiences
  • Sense of ownership and understanding of how performance can impact others
  • Sophisticated relationship development skills, with proven ability to work alongside all staff, from junior level to the Chief Executive
  • Proven influencing skills
  • Well organised, able to anticipate the needs of others, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Project management experience, with proven ability to manage projects from start through to successful completion
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience using a CRM database & general office systems
  • Proven time management capability and ability to self-manage
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion, including when working on projects that are confidential in nature
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with the diverse groups impacted by HIV in New Zealand.

 

While not essential, it would be beneficial to also be able to demonstrate:

  • Lived experience in one or more Burnett Foundation Aotearoa priority populations (men who have sex with men, rainbow communities, people living with HIV, Māori, people from high HIV prevalence countries).
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the not-for-profit or public health sector
